Terms of use
Effective 1 November 2026
These terms apply to your use of the ByteFlow mobile app and this website. By installing or using ByteFlow, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
What ByteFlow is
ByteFlow is a client app that connects your phone to a Cloudflare R2 bucket that you own or are authorised to use. It provides no storage, accounts or online service of its own. The developer has no access to your bucket, your credentials or your files.
Your Cloudflare account
You need your own Cloudflare account. You're responsible for that account, for following Cloudflare's terms, and for every charge Cloudflare makes, including storage and operations caused by using ByteFlow. Actions such as encrypting an entire bucket, changing the encryption key or scanning a large bucket generate requests that may be billed.
ByteFlow isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Cloudflare, Inc. Cloudflare and R2 are trademarks of Cloudflare, Inc.
Your responsibilities
- Keep your login password, destruction password and encryption passphrase safe.
- Keep your Cloudflare access keys safe, and revoke them if your phone is lost or stolen.
- Keep your own backups of anything important. ByteFlow is a file manager, not a backup service.
- Use ByteFlow only with data you have the right to store and share, and follow the laws that apply to you.
- Take responsibility for the links you create and who you send them to.
Permanent actions
ByteFlow has features that are deliberately irreversible. By using them, you accept the following:
- Destruction password. Entering it erases ByteFlow's keys and local data at once, with no confirmation. That includes entering it by mistake.
- Wipe if biometrics change. If you turn this on, a change to the fingerprints or face on your phone, including your own, can erase the same data.
- File encryption. Nobody can reset your passphrase or decrypt your files without it. If you lose both the passphrase and the key stored on your phone, your encrypted files can't be recovered.
- Deleting files. Deleting or overwriting a file in ByteFlow changes your actual bucket.
- Share links. A link can't be cancelled before it expires without deleting the API token behind it.
The developer can't recover data, passwords, keys or files in any of these cases, because the developer never has them.
Security
ByteFlow is designed to protect your credentials on a lost, stolen or seized phone, as described in the guide. No software can guarantee absolute security. ByteFlow can't protect you once your phone is compromised while the app is unlocked, and a destruction wipe may not suit every situation or be lawful in every place. Decide for yourself whether it meets your needs.
Licence
You may install and use ByteFlow for your own purposes. You may not use the ByteFlow name or logo to imply that another product comes from the developer. The app and this website, including their design and text, remain the property of the developer, and the fonts on this website are used under the SIL Open Font License.
No warranty
ByteFlow is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, reliability, non-infringement, and that it will be free of errors. It depends on Cloudflare's service and your phone's operating system, neither of which the developer controls.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the developer isn't liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost data, lost profits, Cloudflare charges, or unauthorised access to your account or files, arising from your use of ByteFlow or your inability to use it. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you, and nothing here removes rights that the law says can't be excluded.
Ending your use
You can stop at any time by wiping and uninstalling the app. Your bucket stays in your Cloudflare account. These terms stop applying once you no longer use ByteFlow, apart from the sections on permanent actions, warranty and liability.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version will appear here with a new effective date. Continuing to use ByteFlow after that means you accept the new version.
